Who I Am
I graduated Cum Laude from Colorado State University with bachelor’s degrees in journalism and political science, along with a minor in legal studies. This gave me a strong foundation in communication strategies and media relations. During my time as a photo editor and director for a campus newspaper, I evolved my craft of compelling visual stories and connecting with different audiences.
I’ve been passionate about politics for as long as I can remember—back in 2008, I even created a candidate guide using crayons and printer paper. As I dove deeper into my studies, I often felt a strong sense of responsibility to share the new information I was learning. This led to endless rants to my patient friends and, of course, my love for journalism.
In college, I interned at the Kansas Governor’s Office and worked on an attorney general campaign. Every day felt exciting, especially during bill signings and award presentations at the Statehouse when I got to serve as the Governor’s official photographer. These experiences not only deepened my understanding of government processes but also fueled my curiosity.
More recently, working in the United States House of Representatives has further sharpened my skills. I’ve been involved in meetings and hearings, crafting concise follow-up materials for legislative aides to keep communication flowing smoothly. I’m also comfortable engaging with constituents through phone calls, emails, and written correspondence, ensuring clarity and connection.
Thanks for making it this far & I hope you enjoy the rest!
Cheers,
Lucy
